Sanex  history

1970 - The company is set up under the name of "The Enterprise for Fine Building Ceramics-Sanex"; it starts manufacturing sanitary ware;

1971 - The company begins the production of ceramic wall tiles;

1973 - The company starts producing ceramic floor tiles;

1975 - 1980 - The range of products is enlarged to include pigments and frits, refractory products, bricks and ceramic blocks;

1990 - The name of the company is changed in Sanex, which becomes a joint-stock company;

1992 - The company begins a large process of reequipment;

1994 - New production lines are start-up, one for wall tiles -in double fast-firing- and the second one for floor tiles - in single firing;

1996 - The manufacturing line for decorative elements (listels and inserts) with special decoration effects (vitrosa, gold, platinum, and quite a huge range of metalic colours) are start-up;

- The Management of the company and the Employees Association conclude a buy-out agreement with the Romanian State Ownership Fund to aquire 51% of the company;

1997 - Sanex is listed on RASDAQ market;

- Another two manufacturing lines, for wall and floor tiles, are start-up;

- Sanex completes the major reequipment process started in 1992, all the manufacturing lines being provided with the latest technology in the field;;

2000-2001 - The Romania & Moldova Direct Fund acquires 67% of the Company, by means of a share acquisition and capital increase process;

2004 - Sanex reduce its range of products, by giving up the sanitary ware production;

- Sanex became member of the Austrian Group Lasselsberger, the most important European producer of ceramic tiles, with an annual output of over 70 million square metres of ceramic tiles.
